Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to record?
This varies considerably based on your project and amount of preparation.
A well-rehearsed group or artist could accomplish a 3-5 song project with rough
mixes in a day. The best way to meet your goals and budget is to map out the
project beforehand so everyone knows what to expect.
Do I need to bring my own instrument?
Generally yes. We do have an assortment of keyboards, amps, guitars, basses
and drums to provide different flavors of sound but by and large musicians
are more comfortable with their own gear. Call ahead and speak to an engineer
to be sure.
Do you only do music videos or other video work as well?
We do all types of production from music videos to TV commercials to CD-ROMS.
We also do transfers and straight video editing. Whatever your needs are,
we can help.
How much does it cost for duplication?
Please refer to our duplication section for general pricing. Cost is dependent
on printing and packaging. For rate quotes call us at #253-272-2010 and
don't forget to ask about price breaks for large orders.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, you need to book in advance. There is a two hour minimum for booking
the studios.
Is there a downpayment?
New clients that have not recorded with us are required to give us a downpayment,
usually one half of the time they are booking. Downpayments on "lockouts"
are always required. Call to discuss price discounts on booking multiple
days.
Can I start a project in one studio and move it to the other?
Because we have two studios, it is possible to begin a project in one
room and move to another. Many clients will do their main tracking in Studio A
and finish overdubs in Studio B to save on recording costs. Both studios have
identical formats and mixing desks that make moving a project seamless.
Do you have a producer to help with my project?
We have access to a variety of producers specializing in many types of
music. Call ahead to discuss your project to pair you with the right person.
After I'm done recording at the studio, can I take those tracks
and work on them at home?
Yes! We can convert them to whatever file type your system at home uses.
In fact many people use
the studio to simply record the things they can't at home, like drums
or loud guitars.
Do you offer recording classes?
Yes we offer two. Renowned author and engineer Bill
Gibson teaches a five week course (20 hour total)
aimed at a comprehensive overview of the recording process in our spacious
Studio A. In addition, our engineers have recently begun a Pro Tools workshop
designed at teaching the basics of this industry standard program.
